It is with regret that I have to report the passing of Alan Roberton of Holywell Golf Club our County Captain in 2003.
The second of the two Seniors fourball competitions takes place on Thursday the 27th of August at Padeswood & Buckley Golf Club, the tee is available from 8:30 until 11:30 and tee times are being taken up very quickly. The cost is £15 per team and entry forms can be downloaded from this site under Seniors P&B, or you can ring the Secretary Gareth Hughes to reserve a tee time, all seniors of golf clubs affiliated to the UFGC are eligible to enter regardless of handicap.
Congratulations to Padeswood and Buckley duo, Adam Delves and Ben Chamberlain who, in defeating Mountain Ash in the quarter finals of the Victory foursomes at Borth and Ynlas secured a semi final appearance at Pyle and Kenfig on the 28th of July.
Flintshire also has another pair in the quarter finals Adam Wilson and David Ramsey of Mold Golf Club who have yet to play there opponents Trefloyne. Good luck to them, it would be tremendous to have two Flintshire clubs in the semi finals of the most prestigous foursomes competition in Wales for amateurs.
On a beautiful day at Rhuddlan Golf Club over forty golfers competed in the scratch to twelve, the course standard scratch on the day was seventy two and familiar names featured in the winners enclosure.
County players David Williams from Prestatyn and Ben Chamberlain Padeswood & Buckley finished first and second in the gross. David scoring sixty-nine to Ben's seventy one.
In the nett competition Graham Jones Padeswood & Buckley scored seventy three-six-sixty seven to win from Chris Pierce of Holywell who shot seventy two-three- sixty nine.
The next scratch to twelve is at Mold on the 24th of August look forward to seeing you all there.
Thanks once again to Billy Evans our President for all his hard work yesterday.
A Seniors betterball Competition has been organised by the County on August 21st at Prestatyn Golf Club, tee from nine a. m. until twelve noon, entry fee £15 per pair, further details in the Seniors section of this web-site
At Mold Golf Club on Sunday the 6th of July Flintshire secured an emphatic victory when defeating Anglesey eleven points to one. The foursomes in the morning resulted in Flintshire going in to lunch three one up, this momentum carried on into the afternoon when Flintshire won all of the eight singles matches resulting in the final score of eleven points to one.
Thanks to Mold Golf Club for an excellently set up golf course, which certainly suited the Flintshire squad, the next County fixture is against Caernarfonshire at Caernarfon Golf Club on the 10th of August where we hope our good form can continue
Congratulations to Martyn Scholes the Union Of Flintshire Golf Clubs Treasurer, a past Captain of Mold in its centenary year and treasurer of the County since December 2013 who at a meeting of the North Wales Golf Clubs Association on the 2nd of July at North Wales Golf Club was appointed treasurer of the four Counties.
